MYALL Masters swimmers have excelled once again on both the state and national level.
Christine Sefton and Chris Lock competed at the NSW State Long Course Championships at Sydney Olympic Park from 11-12 April.
A total of 388 swimmers from across the state competed, surpassing the 2006 attendance record of 383.
Both Myall Masters swimmers entered five individual events each over the weekend, with Christine taking home four gold medals and numerous personal best times.
Christine competed in the 200m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke and 50m Breaststroke.
After her Sunday morning 200m Breaststroke, in which she won yet another gold medal, Christine declared, “I was exhausted… legs, arms, lungs burning!”
Christine’s achievements granted her entry to the 50th Masters Nationals, held at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre from 28 April to 2 May, where she was the only Myall Masters swimmer to enter the pool competitively.
“Among many standout performances in Brisbane, Christine Sefton, a Past President of Tea Gardens-based Myall Masters Swimming, delivered an exceptional campaign in the Women’s 55–59 age group,” Chris Lock told NOTA.
“Christine competed against a strong field of more than 24 swimmers from across Australia and overseas, excelling in several events.
“Christine’s favoured stroke, breaststroke, proved a particular strength, with personal best performances this year in the 25m, 50m, 100m, and 400m events, and she also recorded a personal best in the 50m freestyle.”
Christine’s medal tally was impressive, including a gold in the 400m Breaststroke, silver in the 100m Breaststroke, and bronzes in the 25m, 50m, and 200m Breaststroke events.
In addition, her sixth place in the 25m freestyle was another personal best, rounding out a remarkable championship performance.
