Letter to the Editor: This isn’t progress

DEAR News Of The Area,

I AM writing in support of Leigh Allen’s letter this week on the above subject.

I am a golfer of many years and have been to several meetings at the Golf Club on the proposed development adjacent to the golf course.

At the beginning the developer assured us together with maps etc that the buildings would not be visible from the beach.

Although none of us wants our beautiful beach area spoiled, it appeared that these buildings – in the so-called “progress of today” – would not stop locals and visitors alike from having a wonderful outlook when on our incredible beach.

At the present there is not a single man-made building (apart from the surf club) in sight, with 40 km views of natural habitat to see.

In their wisdom, it appears that MidCoast Council increased the permissible height from 8.5m to 12m; thereby the developer can now put four storey buildings on this site which would have to be seen from our beach.

I am very much against this so-called progress if it means spoiling our wonderful natural coastline.

So sad.

Shame on the

Council for allowing this.

Regards,
Elsa D JONES,

Hawks Nest.
