
THE Pacific Palms Art Festival has wrapped up for another year.
Artists from across the region were recognised for their outstanding work in the annual Exhibition and Sale, which was shown over the long from Friday 5 June to Sunday 7 June.
Ninety-seven artists submitted a total of 189 entries across six categories, with works ranging from painting and photography to textile art and environmental-themed creations.
The festival’s highest accolade, the Pacific Palms Art Prize, was awarded to Tracie Bertram for her ceramic work Cactus Crown.
The acquisitive award was judged by acclaimed artist Steven Harvey.
As the exhibition concluded, organisers thanked artists, visitors, volunteers and buyers for helping make the festival another success.
A festival spokesperson said, “Wow!! What a great festival. Thank you for your continued support and participation in the Pacific Palms Art Festival.”
In the Oil or Acrylic section, Donna Rankin took first place with Mother Rock, while Shelley Bedford earned second place for Breathe.
Highly commended awards went to Marilyn Cranfield, Donna Rankin and Jake Ross.
Christine Marlow won the Watercolour and Pastel category with Rusty Fig, ahead of Philip Koether’s Dawn, while Irene Lines received a highly commended award for Myall Lakes National Park.
Paula Koert-Bain claimed first place in the Open section with White Gums, a textile artwork, while Stephen Cavanagh placed second with Sunset Wallis Lake.
Photography honours went to Kian Bates for Aurora Australis – Seal Rocks Lighthouse, with Lynda Love awarded second place for River Pebbles.
Jake Billinghurst won the Pen, Pencil and Ink category with In Our Hands, while Elizabeth Grimshaw took first place in the Environmental section, themed Nature Vs Man, for her acrylic work Symbiosis.
The festival continues to be one of the region’s premier cultural events, showcasing the creativity and artistic talent that thrives throughout Pacific Palms and the wider Mid Coast community.
