  1. Further to the featured story, NO DREDGE YET in the latest issue of the Nota I would suggest that dredging does not take place until the entrance to Corrie Creek to the Myall River is blocked or almost completely blocked. This in my opinion would give the eastern tidal flow a greater chance of keeping the “short cut” clear of sand build up.
In the early seventies I had a discussion with an old timer who was a member of one of the legendary families of the area. He told me that down where the rock wall is there was a wharf where timbers were loaded for transport to Newcastle. The rock wall is the ballast from these boats that loaded the timber and that the water on the western side of the wall was land attached to Corrie island. He also claimed that there was a fresh water well behind the wharf. When the wharf was demolished the timbers were left in the water and became a great habitat for fish. It wasn’t unusual at weekends to see twenty anglers standing on the stones and having much success. No doubt the timbers are still there and buried in the sand. The ‘old timer’ also told me that in the early days, it was the Pindimar professional fishermen that widened Corrie Creek enough to get their boats into the Myall River. This saved them from having to row their boats all the way out to Myall Point in order to access the river. These days however with Myall Point not being there and the use of power boats, access to Myall River from Pindimar is not an issue.
In a recent letter I suggested That Council revisit the report they requested from the Department of Environment Climate Change and Water and consider that part concerning the measurement and comparison of the eastern tidal flow and how it may effect the Winda Woppa erosion.
