Ladies Tuesday Bowls 28.07.26

This day saw 20 ladies form 10 teams of pairs to play in the Yearly RSL Pairs Competition.  This tournament is a direct result of the Tea Gardens RSL Sub Branch donating $240 to thank the ladies of TGCC Bowling club for their support & help every ANZAC Day in the way of cooking & helping with the BBQ lunch for the veterans.

This year our winners were Lorraine Murphy & Dawn Jones.   Runners up Dot Dallas & Maryanne Cuss & third place went to Judy McGavock & Deb Gardner.

A big thank you to Keith Smith who is our ‘numbers man’ & creates the spreadsheet & also inputs the data to give us a result.   Thanks to our umpire Mark Hair and a special shout out to our social lady Sue Burns, who without a doubt made the best pumpkin soup for our lunch.

Men’s Wednesday Gala Day 29.0.26

Our 42 gentlemen today played on both the grass & synthetic greens.

Overall winners with a total of 37 were Col Amos, Craig McDonald & Mark Hair

Morning winners with the highest winning margin of 10 were Jock Johnson, Graham & Dave Ransome.

Afternoon winners with the highest winning score of 17 were Wayne Duggan, Mark Nightingale & Graham Reynolds.

Mixed Friday Bowls 31.07.26

Several of our ‘younger’ bowling members have put their hands up to help run this day.  Thanks to our Secretary Jane Uff & Treasurer Graham Uff in assisting in organising the roster & set up of this day.  Today saw Maryanne & Gareth Cuss on cards, Phil Thrift on Raffles & Mark Peters on water & rink set up.   We will introduce our new helpers on a weekly basis.  As we all know – good clubs are run by volunteers & the more you have the happier the club – a big thank you to all those who have put their hands up to help run this day.

Today marked the first day of a trial mixed social bowls & 20 of our finest turned up to have a go! Winners today with $20 each were Merv Mills & Bruce Yahl – with the highest score.

Today’s 40 Club winner – congratulations Sue Burns.

Mixed Social Saturday 1.08.26

In the way of creating some more ‘fun’ social days for our members, this Saturday tournament marked the Inaugural Hawks Nest vs Tea Gardens Battle.  Obviously those bowlers residing in Hawks Nest contested those bowlers residing in Tea Gardens (with a little bit of tweaking) Today’s winners !!!! Hawks Nest 57 defeated Tea Gardens 41.  This one will definitely be on the calendar next year – much good fun had by all.

This year our 4 teams of Minor Pairs competitors accepted the format as being round robin – this provided each of the teams a chance of winning over 3 weeks.  Our pairs entrants this year were:

Vicki McMillan & Sheryl Johnson, Precy Swadling & Jo Plummer, Leona Clissold & Kay Berczelly, Jane Uff & Sue Burns

This round saw Vicki & Sheryl defeated by Precy & Jo 10-18

Jane & Sue in a nail biter defeated Leona & Kay 13-12

We also had 10 other ladies who played social bowls & winners with lowest margin Dawn Jones & Sandra Leisemann.  Raffle winner today Sheryl Johnson.

Men’s Wednesday Gala Day 05.08.26

What a fantastic turnout today for the men – 54 gents took to the greens today.

Overall winners with a total of 40 were Phil Bowen, John Bates & Rod Morrison.

Morning winners with the lowest winning margin of 3 were Ron Berczelly, Gary Macdonald & Peter Campbell.

Afternoon winners with the highest winning score of 26 were Mark Peters, Paul Jackson & Noel Jackson

Today’s Garden Eatery Voucher was won by visitor Gary Wilson.

Ladies Minor Pairs Round Robin Thursday 06.08.26 (Round 2)

Our 4 pairs of ladies lined up today.  Results:

Jane Uff & Sue Burns defeated Precy Swadling & Jo Plummer

Leona Clissold & Kay Berczelly defeated Vicki MacMillan & Sheryl Johnson

Next Tuesday 11th August is the last round & winners will be announced.  There is a lunch provided – all lady bowlers welcome ! but it is imperative to put your name on the list if you are bowling or intending to come to lunch.

Mixed Social Friday Bowls 7.08.26

Our second round of random draw mixed bowls saw 25 players today & thanks to Ron & Kay Berczelly for organising the cards, Susan Burns on raffles, Karen Vollmer on collecting monies.

Another fun day with 3 x rinks of 3 bowl triples & 1 x rink of 2 bowl 4s.  Today’s winner with the highest score of 18 was Gareth Cuss, Mark Vollmer & Gavin Schofield & 40 Club won by the lucky Mark Vollmer !

Saturday 8.08.29 – Taree Travelling Bowlers vs Tea Gardens

20 merry travellers from Taree visited Tea Gardens today.  A lot of fun banter & some not so serious bowls – there really wasn’t a result, because nobody cared ! however thanks to Rick our Mens Bowls Co-ordinators for organising & presenting some randomly drawn teams with prizes of 6 packs of beer & bottles of wine.   All in all, some good friendships were made & definitely a lot of laughter !

Mixed Sunday Bowls 9.08.26

An unprecedented 45 bowlers attended today, but there was a reason !!!! One of our bowlers was celebrating their 70th Birthday & Gareth Cuss decided what better way to celebrate than putting on a BBQ with all their bowling friends.  Much congratulations to Frank, our fearless leader & organiser for coping with the influx of people.

Lucky rink winners today – rink 8 Bruce Yahl, Rosa & Toni

‘The Frank Award’ today went to Maryanne Cuss, Daryl Martin & Brad Cuss.

Obviously behind every good man is a good woman & big thanks to Maryanne Cuss & her team of helpers – Sue Burns, Les Smith, Phil Thrift & Rick Islaub – great burgers & an even better cake !
