DEAR News Of The Area,
THE article, ‘Urgent action needed on Myall’s shoals’ (Myall NOTA, 8 October), sees the proponents of the Myall River Action Group charge their steeds. Or is it flogging a dead horse, again?
Is sand really responsible for hospitalisations resulting from striking a sandbar, vegetation or something else hidden? Again, we see the proposed loss of the natural landscape for financial gain.
I do sympathise with their desire to do so, but it comes at a hefty cost, financial and environmental.
National Parks for instance.
Has it really become a critical issue? In my opinion, only in Gordon’s view.
And, by the way, it’s a Hydrographic Survey, not a ‘hydro survey’. A hydrographic survey is the science of measuring and mapping the physical features, depths, and contours of underwater areas such as oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers.
Personally, I find the stupidity of selling ‘natural gas’ (and continued coal), also in the 8 October edition, just as brainless as undertaking more dredging.
Regards,
Mervyn McConnochie,
Karuah.
