THREE Tea Gardens swimmers headed to the Central Coast for the Mingara Masters Individual Pool Swim Meet on Saturday 23 May and recorded some impressive results.

The Myall Masters representatives modelled dedication and commitment during the event, which was held at Woy Woy Peninsula Pool.

“Christine Sefton, Walter Hannibal and Leon Bobako, who are all exceptional breaststroke specialists, covered three age groups, with 10 years difference between them, and all were overall winners in their respective age groups,” said Myall Masters spokesperson Chris Dunning.

Sefton took home the title of Overall Winner in the 55-59 years women’s events, a feat achieved through placing first in her 100-metre freestyle event, first in her two breaststroke events (25m and 100m), and third in her 25-metre freestyle.

Sefton clocked a personal best in her 100m Freestyle swim, adding to the plethora she achieved earlier this year at both State and National championships.

Hannibal competed with success in the men’s 65-69 years group, placing first individually in his 50m freestyle and 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events.

Hannibal’s performances in his 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke signalled big improvements over his previous times and he was rewarded with the title of Male Champion for his section.

Leon Bobako also proved a strong finisher in all his race events, completing this trifecta of age champions in the 75-79 years men’s category.

Leon placed first in his 25-metre swims for freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke, and also racked up first place in his 50-metre breaststroke.
