MOTORISTS are being urged to plan ahead over the next fortnight, with MidCoast Council rolling out a broad program of road reconstruction, restoration, maintenance and pothole repairs across the region.
The works, published in ouncil’s latest fortnightly roads update, will see crews working on dozens of roads spanning urban centres and rural communities, with drivers advised to expect minor traffic delays in some locations.
Pothole patching remains a major focus, with crews scheduled to work across Taree, Wingham, Wherrol Flat, Gloucester, Bulahdelah, Bungwahl and along key transport routes including Thunderbolts Way, The Bucketts Way, Myall Way, Hunterview Road and The Lakes Way.
Heavy patching is also planned for Comboyne Road, High Street in Taree and Wingham Road.
A number of larger infrastructure projects will also continue over the coming weeks. Construction of the new roundabout at Red Head Road and Diamond Beach Road is progressing, while reconstruction works are under way at the Isabella Street roundabout in Wingham.
Restoration works are continuing at the Wingham Wetlands and on Comboyne Road south of Potts Road, with reconstruction also taking place on King Street in Gloucester and Wanya Road at Tea Gardens.
Routine maintenance crews will also be active across a range of roads, bridges and footpaths, including works at Beach Street in Harrington, Youngs Road, Barrington East Road, Booral Road, Cooplacurripa Bridge, Millers Bridge and new footpath works along Admiralty Avenue and Head Street.
Roadside vegetation management is scheduled throughout the Lansdowne district, Bulahdelah, Swan Bay, Diamond Beach, Blackhead and along major roads including The Bucketts Way and The Lakes Way.
Meanwhile, grading crews will improve conditions on numerous unsealed roads, including Wang Wauk Road, Prices Creek Road, Old Soldiers Road at Rainbow Flat, Dogwood Road at Bungwahl, Baldy Knob Road and several other rural routes.
Residents can access the latest information on road, bridge and footpath projects through MidCoast Council’s Roads Hub, while road issues can be reported directly to council online.
