Mid Coast Community Connector Kate Dunn recognised in NSW Parliament for supporting skilled worker relocation

MID Coast Community Connector Kate Dunn has received formal recognition in the Parliament of NSW for her work helping skilled workers and their families settle into the region.

Member for Myall Lakes Tanya Thompson presented Ms Dunn with a Community Recognition Statement, acknowledging her contribution to attracting and retaining essential professionals across the Mid Coast.

Ms Thompson described Ms Dunn as “one of the quiet achievers of our region” through her role supporting people relocating to the area.

“Kate has become one of the quiet achievers of our region through her work as the Mid Coast Community Connector, helping professionals and their families relocate, settle in and build a life here on the Mid Coast,” Ms Thompson said.

Through her work, Ms Dunn has assisted doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, engineers and other skilled workers to establish themselves in local communities, helping address workforce shortages across the region.

Ms Thompson said Ms Dunn’s impact extended far beyond practical relocation assistance.

“What makes Kate’s work so special is that it goes far beyond finding someone a place to live or helping them navigate a move,” she said.

“She helps people feel connected, welcomed and part of our community from day one.”

The Community Connector role focuses on supporting new residents as they transition into the Mid Coast, helping them build networks and develop a sense of belonging in their new surroundings.

Ms Thompson said strong communities relied on people willing to support others behind the scenes.

“Strong communities are built by people who quietly get on with the job of helping others, and Kate is exactly that person,” she said.

Ms Thompson presented the Community Recognition Statement in person after delivering the statement in parliament.

“Congratulations Kate. Thank you for everything you do for our region,” Ms Thompson said.

“It was wonderful to be able to recognise your contribution in Parliament and then present that recognition to you in person today.”

The recognition highlights the important role community connections play in attracting and retaining vital workers across regional NSW.
