THREE doubles titles in one weekend made Greg Hunt the standout performer at the 2026 TSNSW Seniors Tournament, held at Hawks Nest.
With more than 30 players contesting eight doubles categories, the tournament delivered a weekend of competitive tennis, with several players proving that one title simply wasn’t enough.
Hunt dominated the honours board, partnering David Goodie to claim the 110+ Combined Age Men’s Doubles title before teaming up with Fred Stevenson to secure victory in the 60+ Men’s Doubles.
He completed his winning trifecta alongside Robyn Lunn in the 110+ Combined Age Mixed Doubles.
Not to be outdone, Alison Cook enjoyed a double celebration, partnering Melissa Brooks to win the 60+ Combined Age Ladies Doubles before joining Jeff Galle to take out the 90+ Combined Age Mixed Doubles.
In the 60+ Combined Age Men’s Doubles, Gordon Sutcliffe and Patrick Staunton combined their talents to claim top honours.
Shayne Franklin and Ian Searles proved a winning combination in the 30+ Men’s Doubles, while Michelle Kelly and Stacey Cardy secured the 30+ Ladies Doubles title.
Mr Franklin from Branxton told NOTA, “Everyone is so friendly here and it’s a great facility.”
But camaraderie didn’t come at the expense of competitive strategy.
Adding a tactical twist, the combined-age categories saw doubles partners qualify on their collective ages, rather than individually, opening the court to a broader mix of playing partnerships.
With men’s, women’s and mixed doubles contested across the weekend, the competition highlighted the versatility required to adapt to different partners and opponents.
While Hunt’s hat-trick of titles stole the spotlight, Cook’s two victories added another impressive achievement to the tournament’s honours list.
Eight titles, numerous winning partnerships and plenty of competitive spirit brought the weekend’s action to a close, reinforcing the enduring appeal of seniors tennis.
For Hunt and Cook, however, the results spoke for themselves, with five of the eight titles shared between the two standout competitors.
