Hawks Nest Ladies Golf

AFTER the recent strong winds experienced on the coast, conditions eased a little for the 28 ladies who played in the last Saturday round in March. There was quite a bit of debris on the course which made things a little unpredictable at times, but Di Rumble Dickson didn’t let that get in her way. Di finished with a great score of 38, and was extremely happy with her chip in on the 15th hole from 34 metres out for a par 4, and 5 points! Other chip ins came from Denise Sainty on the 3rd, Cheryl Foster on the 6th and Sue Campton on the 18th – well played, ladies!

But it was Deb Dummett who took the honours, with a chip in on the 5th from 20 metres out in a blistering round, finishing with 40 points! There were Easter eggs galore after the match today, as well as raffles won by Janet Moore and Lorraine Bragg – thank you to the Ladies Committee for organizing these Easter treats.

The Lady Vets played in beautiful conditions on Thursday, and the atmosphere of fun and friendship was clear to see. Deb Andrews was all smiles with her welcome return to good form, finishing with a great nett 33. Sue Fordy was close behind with nett 34,  and Di Smith 35. From a field of 43 players, only Liz Ross scored a chip in today on the 7th hole. One of our 20 year veterans had a milestone moment today when she discovered she had a chipper in her golf bag that she’d never used before. So she got it out, and played a marvellous shot from the long, wet rough! Shot of the day, Sue!
