HOLIDAYS in April are set to get off to a ripping start, beginning with the return of the Art Affair at Tea Gardens Hotel’s Dolphin Room from Monday 30 March until Good Friday, 3 April.
The Art Affair is a small yet vibrant display of locally-created artworks, put on for the first time in over two years to highlight the creative talents of the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest community.
“The artists, most of whom are retired, get to showcase their remarkable creativity across a range of arts, including painting, printmaking, woodworking, fibre crafts (like spinning, weaving and knitting), and the increasingly popular mosaic craft,” Rudy Jacobs, Art Affair organiser, told NOTA.
“During these challenging financial and political times, this initiative may provide a modest source of engagement for the community in the local area.
“The people whose works are on display have been exploring their crafts for up to a decade or more, and will be more than willing to discuss how they got into their artform, and even show others how to get into various art forms.
“As happened last time, there is a good chance that seeing the amazing work that locals can do will inspire others, and perhaps even ignite a curiosity to pursue well into the future.”
