MIDCOAST Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on the proposed naming of the netball facilities at Boronia Park to be called ‘The Pauline Carr Netball Centre’.
The Great Lakes Netball Association has submitted a proposal to call the netball facilities ‘The Pauline Carr Netball Centre’.
This naming honours Pauline’s decades of dedication to growing netball in the Great Lakes region.
Pauline played a leading role in getting a local netball competition running in the Forster area.
This started with the formation of the Great Lakes Netball Association in 1987 when Pauline served as President.
She also championed the establishment of netball games to Boronia Park as the sport grew in popularity in Forster.
Pauline’s leadership was recognised nationally in 1992 when the association received the inaugural Prime Minister’s Women in Sport Award for Community Initiative.
She also received individual recognition as the Great Lakes Sports Citizen of the year in 1991-92.
From the 1970s until her passing in February 2025, Pauline remained deeply involved in netball.
She was a mentor, advocate and inspiration to many within the sport and was recognised as a Life Member of the Association.
