Tea Gardens walking soccer

WEDNESDAY afternoon was a humid scorcher with no breeze at all but we had a great roll up of happy keen players, and a couple of onlookers, willing to get it all happening.

The two teams of seven-a-side took to the field and had a rollicking game with some swish moves, gained skills and plenty of luck to create a game that truly reflected the ethos of what we are all about at TGSC walking football.

The two 15-minute halves turned out to be “not to be enough” so, after a well needed rest and cool off, a further 10-minute extra play session was enjoyed by all.

The end score, to my recollection, was not even mentioned as everyone walked off the field shaking hands and supporting each other on their effort and a happy game.

Welcome to our newbie “I’ve never played before, only watched my kids play” Donna, who played well and with gusto for every minute of the game. See you next week!

Welcome back Len, after some time away, good to see you have lowered your tumble tally to 1.

Our regular after-game “sit-round & chat” was full of laughter, social connection and smiles for over an hour. Nice.

A callout to Kathy with the sore pinky finger, rest up, get mended and come back when you can. We are all thinking of you.

Thank you Jeff for volunteering to do the laundry this week and fitting it all into the milk crate on your push bike and to Gary and Vicky for taking and sending through the action shots.

Registration assistance day is on February 28, 9–12 at the canteen. Come along, register and get a free sausage sandwich. How’s that!

Our winter season will commence 2nd May, games will be at 11am Saturdays with a regular lunch sausage sizzle.

Anyone 50+ years young welcome to drop in for a game and/or just a look-see. Twilight season 5pm Wednesdays at Memorial Park Cnr Witt and Hough Streets Tea Gardens.
