Residents riding high after Biker Day thrill

A GROUP of aged care home residents were riding high last week at a much‑anticipated biker day, rescheduled after last month’s Father’s Day wash-out.

The waterfront streets of Stockton came alive on Monday, 28 September as they climbed aboard trikes and Harley‑Davidsons for a nostalgic loop through their hometown.

Up to 60 residents took part, many fulfilling a long‑held wish to feel the wind in their hair again.

A small group were able to hop onto the back of a Harley, while others enjoyed the comfort and stability of trikes provided by the Coalfields Chapter of the American Motorcycle Club (AMC).

The Hunter-based, non‑profit club regularly hosts charity rides and community events, and its members volunteered their time to make the day possible.

The excitement was infectious, according to Moran Stockton’s general manager, Julie Henderson.

“We had a large number of very excited residents who expressed an interest in taking a spin around Stockton,” she said.

“It was a bucket-list activity our team was happy to see fulfilled.”

Residents help shape their monthly lifestyle calendar, which includes everything from waterfront walks to ping pong and pub lunches. The biker day added something truly memorable to that list.

One resident summed up the joy: “It was great to feel the wind in my hair again after all these years!”

With many residents born and bred locally, the event drew warm interest from the Stockton community, a celebration of connection, nostalgia and the simple thrill of the open road.
