Little Street Forster boat ramp closure

THE Little Street boat ramp, in Forster, will remain closed during December and January, with some changes, following a two-year trial.

The Little Street boat ramp will remain open without restrictions for the rest of the year.

At its meeting on Monday 29 June, Council considered a range of options for how the Little Streetramp should operate over summer.

Council also considered the feedback from people who use the ramp and the nearby swimming baths. This feedback was collected during two summer trials held in 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.

The ramp will close for launching of motorised watercraft from 15 December – 31 January each year. This is a shorter closure than the two-month period used during the trials. The boat ramp will not be open for night launching during this time.

“We’ve considered the safety of everyone who enjoys the Little Street facilities during the busy summer period,” said Council’s Executive Manager Public Spaces, Mr Liam Bulley.

“We also listened to the community, who told us that the closure period could be safely shortened to a six-week period.”

The shorter closure means boaties can use the ramp for more of the year.

During the six-week closure each year, boaties will need to launch from other boat ramps in the area.

The community was generally in favour of the summer closure. Support strengthened during the second trial.
