THE Tea Gardens Lady Hawks league tag side went down to the Glendale Gorillas in cold conditions on Saturday, 18 April at Myall Park.
Buoyed by last week’s win, the Lady Hawks went into the game confident, and were frustrated to concede a converted try within the opening five minutes.
The home side struggled to gain ascendancy, but a series of unforced errors by Glendale gave them some much-needed territory gains.
A knock-on by Glendale in-goal then gave the Lady Hawks attacking advantage, as Litiana Durbin slipped through to score her side’s first try of the match.
The Hawks continued to apply pressure as the first half came to a close, with Taylah Tassell and Abby Fenner managing particularly impressive runs.
Momentum shifted after the break, with Glendale scoring shortly after the restart.
The Lady Hawks hit back with 14 minutes to go however, via a Lilliarna Baillie try.
Not to be outdone, Glendale quickly returned serve with another converted try to widen the margin again.
The visitors kept up the pressure in the final ten minutes with strong field position and multiple close attacks, before sealing the victory with a try in the closing 30 seconds.
The match finished 22-8 to Glendale.
