Karuah Invitational Open Fours Tournament results

KARUAH Bowling Club proudly hosted its inaugural Invitational Open Fours tournament across the last weekend of July, with the event drawing a full field of 16 teams competing for a total prize pool of $4,800.

The strong field of club bowlers travelled from many regions across the State. Clubs represented included Bulahdelah, Clarence Town, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Engadine, Gulgong, Hamilton North, Karuah, Kurri Kurri, Maitland City, Moree, Mudgee, Peak Hill, Raymond Terrace, Sawtell, Stockton, and Tea Gardens.

Across the two-day program players took to the green for three games of 14 ends on Saturday, followed by two games of 14 ends on Sunday.

After Saturday’s games visitors enjoyed Karuah’s local oysters and prawns.

The weekend schedule provided a great mix of competitive play and plenty of opportunity to socialise over lunches and beers, contributing to a lively and engaging tournament atmosphere in perfect July sunshine.

The event brought together seasoned players and social bowlers alike, showcasing the inclusive spirit of the sport.

Tournament winners were a composite team consisting of Karuah locals Ben Brown and Jason Greentree, together with Chole Appleby from Kurri Kurri and Cory Parker from Maitland City.

Second place went to Leon Post of Karuah’s composite team of Greg Brown and Jason Price from Raymond Terrace and Leo Kierans from Bulahdelah.

Third place went to another composite team, bringing together Colleen and Chris Ross from Tea Gardens and friends April Smith and Tim Butley from Gulgong.

Prize money was also presented to the best-performing team across each of the five games.

Karuah Bowling Club’s grass green was acknowledged as being the best in the region, a sentiment echoed by many of the players and thanks was given to local greenkeepers, Ryan and Leon Post.
