Hawks Nest Ladies Golf

LAST week’s Saturday competition was a Stableford event, with 33 ladies taking part.

There were some lovely drives onto the greens on the par 3 holes from our overall winner, Deb Matheson, and from Liz Ross to be NTP, as well as chip-ins from Sari McDonald (11^th) and Roma Bernardin (2^nd) – well played, ladies!

There were 51 starters in Tuesday’s competitive field for the 18 hole Stableford event, the 2026 Grandmother’s Trophy.

It was a very excited Sue Campton who took the honours with a runaway win, scoring 39 points.

Sue said she had always wanted to win this trophy, and this year had one of those perfect rounds where everything went right.

Sue couldn’t wait to send her grandchildren the photos – congratulations!

Carolyn Affleck had the individual Play of the Day, with her amazing tee shot on the 10^th,  the ball stopping a mere 38 cm from the hole!

Carolyn won the Eagle’s Nest prize with this great shot.

Chip-ins today came from Julie Freeland on the 12^th hole from 7 metres out, Di Bowes on the 6^th and Jo Buttrey on the 18^th.

Robyn Wade was very happy to sink her 10-metre putt on the 14^th – great golf, ladies!

There was a special presentation to Pamela Keegan on her birthday this week, with Jo Buttrey presenting her with the  VWGA Commemorative badge, which honours the significance of being an active golfer turning 80.

Pam has a long and illustrious golfing history at Hawks Nest, her name appearing on the Ladies Golf Honour Board in all three grades over the years.

We wish Pam good health and continued good golf in the future.

We also said farewell to Di Bott, who is moving on to play golf at Pacific Dunes in Medowie after spending time with us at Hawks Nest. We wish Di and husband Ray well for their big move.

Thursday Lady Vets saw 31 players tee off in perfect sunny conditions for the 9 hole event. It was wonderful to welcome back Robyn Deppi after an 8 month layoff. She showed she’s still got what it takes by coming in 2^nd today just a shot off the lead. Welcome also to Tina Taylor in her first game of Lady Vets competition golf. Rosali Rajki had the only chip-in today – well played, ladies!
