
THE Vets Men’s Open Day was on Thursday 11th December and a great day was had by all. 44 players contested the Stableford event in 3 grades, and the rain almost held off to the end.
Thanks to all who made it happen and contributed in any way – especially the cooks!
A grade winner was Craig Littlechild with a very respectable 40pts from Ray Mansell with 37pts and Marty Bramble with 35pts. B grade winner was Ron McDaniel with 39pts from Rod Norberry with 38pts and Lloyd smith wth 36pts. C grade winner was Wayne Green with 38pts on a c/b from Terry Hulme and Jim Parnell with 37pts. Ken Hughes got the jackpot and Scott Willcockson was the most accurate driver. Long drivers were R.Roberts, Bob Denelzen and Benny Green. NTPs were Marty Bramble, Scott Willcockson, Rod Norberry and Garry Willadsen.
Saturday 13th December was the annual Mug of Mugs sponsored by the Styles family. 42 players enjoyed a fine day on the course even though there wasn’t as much run as the previous few weeks. A grade winner was Toby Carroll with 71nett on a c/b from Max Schlenert. B grade winner was Alan Benson with 71nett from Glenn Grainger with 73nett. C grade and December Mug winner was Peter Neave with 70nett from Garry Willadsen with 74nett on a c/b from David Shultz. The Men’s Mug of Mugs winner was Zac Watt with 74nett and the Ladies’ Mug of Mugs and December Mug winner was Alison Benson with 78nett from Barbie Gordon with 79nett. NTPs were Toby Carroll, David Schlenert and Max Schlenert. Long drivers were Geoff Harvey, Ryan McSweeny, David Shultz and Lou Smith.
Paul Smithson won the jackpot. The golf was followed by a delicious BBQ topped off with sweets and stories of what might have been!
