LEADER of The Nationals Matt Canavan has congratulated The Nationals’ News South Wales incumbent Senator Ross Cadell on winning preselection for the next federal election.
Senator Canavan said Senator Cadell has made an enormous contribution to The Nationals and deserved the top spot for the Party on the next Coalition Senate ticket.
“Ross has been a fierce advocate for regional New South Wales, fighting for water rights, fisheries and forestry, as well as standing up for our freedom of speech and cost-of-living pressures,” Senator Canavan said.
“I am thrilled to support Ross at the next federal election. Australia needs a regional champion like Ross, who is not afraid to speak up and stand up for what is right.
“Ross is loyal, dedicated and extremely intelligent. From day one Ross has been reliable and hard working and we need him in our Nationals Party Room. As well as that, Ross is a great friend and a good bloke, who always puts Australia first.”
Senator Canavan also welcomed Olivia McCormack being selected in the second position for The Nationals.
“Olivia will make a fantastic contribution to The Nationals with her positive advocacy for regional New South Wales,” Senator Canavan said.
“Olivia knows regional New South Wales is hurting and families are bearing the brunt of Labor’s self-made cost-of-living crisis and we welcome Olivia on the Senate ticket.
“Our Party gives the right to members to choose who their candidates will be and we had a great group of candidates to choose from today.
“I thank everyone who put their hand up for preselection. Now the hard work begins.
“We have an incredible team in The Nationals who will keep up the fight against this hopeless Albanese Labor government and restore hope for our regions at the next federal election.”
