SATURDAY play day was very well-attended with a huge crowd of supporters and players coming along to relish the weather and the sporting entertainment.
The day marked Ray White Real Estate Round 11 and sponsors were represented by Kelly Hurkett, who joined the club players and supporters for a BBQ breakfast.
The club’s mini-grade games, refereed by George, got under way bang on time at 9am with the Reef Sharks well ahead of the Shovel Nose Sharks at full time.
Players of the match vouchers were awarded to Maverick McGrath and Lennox Cox.
Game two between the Port Jackson Sharks and the Wobbegong Sharks ended in a draw, with players of the match vouchers going to William Hood and Bodhi McGrath.
Midi-grade game one resulted in the Mako Sharks netting 1 to the Bulahdelah Bullets 4, and game two saw the Hammer Head Sharks and the Bull Sharks draw with 2 goals each.
We also had four of our junior players step up as Game Leaders on the Minis fields today – James, Lillian, Flynn and Tobias. They did a fantastic job helping our youngest players, who loved having the older kids out there and really looked up to them.
A huge thank you to our Junior Game Leaders for volunteering their time and being such great role models for our Minis.
Karen refereed the junior grade game with game one Tiger Sharks v Bulahdelah Bullets 4 to 2 respectively.
The Bronze Whaler Sharks just got in front of the Bulahdelah Thresher Sharks in game two, ending in a close score of 4 to 3.
We had a few juniors support the midis as game leaders today. Great to see such sportsmanship and cooperation on and off the fields. Thank you all.
The games are getting very close in our Midis and Juniors, which is fantastic to see and a great reflection of how much the players’ skills and teamwork are improving week by week.
Even some of our walking football players volunteered to help out in the canteen, helping to make the day work. Speaking of walking football, their game started at 11.15 and lasted two sessions of 20 minutes each in what was found to be very warm conditions.
Some very puffed out players came off the pitch and relished a sit down, a nice cuppa and a chat afterwards.
Thanks to Donna and Steven for bringing along some lovely bikkies.
Cheers to Wink and Mick for volunteering to install some shelving after the games and BBQ.
All in all, it was a fantastic fun day. Full of sport, smiles and sunshine.
