Braidwood Central School students donate outdoor tables to Rural Fire Service

THE arrival of two purpose-built outdoor tables, made by students from the Braidwood Central School (BCS) construction class of 2026, has been warmly welcomed by members of the local NSW Rural Fire Service.

Brigade Captain Rod Paar said the donation represented more than the addition of practical outdoor furniture.

He said the gift was a reflection of the long-standing relationship between the brigade and BCS, built through years of community connection and mutual support.

The tables provide a dedicated outdoor space for volunteers to gather for a range of purposes, including post-training debriefs, shared meals, informal discussions, and rest breaks between duties.

Brigade Captain Paar said that in a busy operational environment, having an accessible outdoor area contributed positively to both wellbeing and teamwork.

Captain Paar noted that the shared spaces also supported communication and reflection following training exercises and operational activities, and helped members to debrief in a more relaxed setting.

The brigade also operates as a district training facility and hosts volunteers from across the region who attend courses and development sessions.

Captain Paar highlighted the donation as an example of strong community partnership.

He acknowledged the effort and craftsmanship of the students who were involved in the construction and hoped they took pride in seeing their work become a lasting and functional part of the brigade’s facilities.

The tables are expected to be put to immediate and ongoing use.
