MIDCOAST Council is calling community representatives from across the region to nominate to join a Floodplain Management Reference Group.
This group is designed to advise Council on the development and implementation of Floodplain Risk Management Plans for the local government area.
These plans provide specific advice in relation to many different aspects in relation to flood events including but not limited to;
– Reducing the impact of flooding and flood liability on the community.
– Reduce private and public losses resulting from flooding.
– Recognise flood prone land as a valuable resource which should not be necessarily sterilised.
– Take into account social, economic, ecological and cultural factors.
Expressions of interest to join the group closes on Wednesday 15 April at 4.30pm
Anyone who would like more information on the group or who wants to nominate can do so by visiting https://www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/fmrg
