GAMES set down for last Saturday and Thursday afternoon training were cancelled due to the flooding of the fields.
Walking Football (soccer) was on as we only needed a small dry area to set out our field which we found close to the cricket wicket as the ground around the wicket is slightly higher than the remainder of the oval. So, a quick set up was done thanks to all hands-on deck, the sun came out, and play we did!
It was a great game of two10 minute halves punctuated with a few rests and a half time break with chilled orange quarters, just the good ol’days! Smiles and laughter were abundant with some stunning goals, one of which was absolutely nailed by newcomer
(“I don’t know what to do, I’ve never played soccer in my life”).Robyn Congratulations Robyn and welcome to our other two newcomers Kath and Jeff, who both saw the whole game through.
During our regular after game gathering, it was agreed to play every week until seasons end in late September.
This will give more interested folks the opportunity to come along and give it a try. No commitment, just come when you can, play when you want. Anyone over 50 yrs is welcome, weather you’re a player, sit & watcher, or just simply an inquisitive local.
12-2pm every Saturday afternoon, Memorial Park, Cnr Witt and Hough Streets Tea Gardens.
Bring a chair and a cold refreshment. Hot sausage sandwiches, Tea, Coffee, soft drinks and shelter available at our canteen.
